Christian
Program Director

How many times has the new Christian Education Administrator
in your church had little-to-no experience?

This course will give Christian Education Administrators the confidence they need to effectively administer your program. This eight week course includes the following:

  • Assessing the needs of your Christian Education Program, gap analysis, building an effective ministry plan and developing a strategy for on-going assessment.
  • Recruiting and training volunteers.
  • Selecting and / or building curriculum.
  • Administration duties: Scheduling, special events, organization, appreciation programs, teacher planning meetings and maintaining safe facilities.  Overview of budgeting and fund raising.
  • Follow-up programs to promote maximum student retention.
  • Programs, incentives, rewards, crafts and media in the classroom.
  • Developing a marketing plan for your program and special events.
  • Spiritual mentoring for Christian Education staff

Assessing the needs of your Christian Education Program
This class gives Christian Education Administrators the tools to effectively assess the needs of your church.
  • Do you have the right number of volunteers for the number of children/people in attendance?
  • Do you have adequate resources?
  • Do your volunteers have the right information in their files?
  • What are the training needs of your volunteers and staff?
  • Where are the gaps in our program that need to be filled?

Recruiting and Training Volunteers
Every church struggles to maintain enough volunteers to meet their program needs. This class will give the students ideas and help them build creative ways to recruit and train volunteers.

Selecting and/or Building Curriculum
As a new Sunday School teacher, I found that the curriculum being used was in direct conflict to the doctrine that was being taught in the church. This class will help the Administrator review the current curriculum being used at your church, and compare doctrinal statements, mission and vision statements. It will also provide a guideline to build customized curriculum when needed.

Administration Duties
The Administrator will conclude this class with a customized plan for performing the administrative duties of this position. They will:
  • Develop a volunteer schedule to ensure classroom coverage
  • Develop a calendar of planned special events for the year, and assign point people to oversee the event
  • Learn basic organizational skills
  • Be introduced and given the tools to develop an appreciation program for volunteers and staff
  • Learn to conduct teacher planning meetings
  • Maintain safe facilities
  • Budgeting and fund raising

Follow-up Programs
The key to a successful program is in the follow-up. This course will introduce the Administrator to different types of follow-up programs and help them determine what will work best for your church.

Para Programs and Incentives
Do you use your teen population in an Intern Program?
Or, give incentives to boost attendance.
What are the guidelines that you use?
Do you have craft or make-it/take-it in the classroom?
What kind of media do you use to attract new people? This class will brainstorm the different programs and incentives, then determine the best methods for your church, as well as who will provide the service.

Developing a Marketing Plan
Administrators need to know how to market special events, fund raisers, volunteer campaigns, and other functions of their minstry. This class will help the Administrator to know what resources are available, and when to use each resource.

Spiritual Mentoring
A good Administrator knows the skill-sets and personal strengths and weaknesses of all staff.  They are responsible to manage resources, as well as people. This class will help the Administrator build a relationship that will strengthen each volunteer and staff member spiritually, as well as help them recognize burn-out. They will develop a plan to come alongside staff who are struggling spiritually to sustain them in trial, lovingly put them on temporary sabbatical from ministry before burn-out takes a toll, nurture them to spiritual health and restore them.

the six semester hours of study.
